KUCHING, 15 December — Yayasan PETRONAS is delighted to spread the joy of festive season through its contribution to uplift lives over the Christmas season. Through the Uplifting Lives Festive (ULF) programme, the foundation aims to spread joy and festive spirit to underprivileged communities across Malaysia.
For Christmas, distribution will include essential food items along with festive treats such as butter cookies, sourced from participants of the foundation’s Memampankan Ekonomi Asas Rakyat (MEKAR) programme, in hopes of bringing smiles not just to the recipients who are celebrating but also to the communities.
The distribution of essential food items and festive treats is set to commence on 1st of December across 11 states throughout Malaysia, thanks to the support of the Welfare Department. The initiative aims to reach 2,350 families, including 400 families in Sarawak, bringing the gift of food and festivity to those in need.
With this Christmas initiative, Yayasan PETRONAS would have distributed festive food items to 11,850 families this year. The contribution, which covers major festive celebrations in Malaysia including Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Gawai, Kaamatan, and Deepavali, served as testament to the foundation’s commitment towards making a positive impact on the lives of those in need during auspicious festivals.
Speaking about the contribution, Shariah Nelly Francis, CEO of Yayasan PETRONAS, remarked, “Christmas is a time for joy and togetherness, and through our Uplifting Lives Festive program, we aim to bring smiles to the communities we serve. At Yayasan PETRONAS, we believe in contributing to the needs of the communities and in spreading happiness.“
The Uplifting Lives programme is part of Yayasan PETRONAS’ community well-being and development focus area. The programme is also in line with the PETRONAS Sustainability Agenda and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
