The equipments, consisting of two haemodialysis machines, a dialyser reprocessor, and a reverse osmosis system, are part of Yayasan PETRONAS’ effort to boost the capacity of existing facilities catering to patients with renal ailments, especially those in remote areas in the state.
Under the initiative, the foundation contributed a total of 10 haemodialysis machines including six for Tenom Hospital, and two each for Tungku Health Clinic and Beaufort Hospital. Yayasan PETRONAS also contributed a medical fridge to Tenom Hospital, as well as a reverse osmosis system each to Lahad Datu Hospital and Beaufort Hospital.
Yayasan PETRONAS Chief Executive Officer, Shariah Nelly Francis said that the contribution is an extension to the foundation’s ongoing collaboration with the Sabah State Government through the Social Welfare Department (JPKA) under the Uplifting Lives programme.
“I hope that through this effort, we can complement the capacity of the existing haemodialysis centres in those districts, and I would like to thank JPKA for this collaborative effort. These are not just an equipment, they represent our hope and our support for the communities in need,” Shariah said.
