Syed Marzidy’s journey with PETRONAS began in 2002 when he joined the company as Legal Counsel under PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB). He then moved to White Nile (SB) Petroleum Operating Company (WNPOC) in Khartoum, Sudan in 2006 before returning to Malaysia in 2010 to expand his experience in various leadership roles.
Syed Marzidy was formerly the General Counsel for PCSB International and Domestic operations, Petroleum Management Unit (PMU), PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad (PCG), Project Delivery and Technology (PD&T), and Corporate Services, apart from being a Legal Resource Person. He has undertaken various Upstream, Downstream, and Corporate projects, notably salvaging PETRONAS rights in light of North Sudan and South Sudan cessation, acquisition of Progress Energy Assets and subsequently the company itself, the ensuing divestments to partners, renegotiation of joint venture arrangement with Mitsubishi for PC Aromatics, motorsports, and many others.
He was also the Head of Board Governance in Group Secretarial and Board Governance before he was appointed as General Counsel of Legal New Energy. Syed Marzidy is currently the Senior General Counsel of Legal Gas & New Energy and was a former Deputy Public Prosecutor and Senior Federal Counsel of the Attorney General Chambers.
Syed Marzidy graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from University of Malaya and holds a Master of Laws from University of Southampton, United Kingdom.
